LEARN WHAT AND HOW
Going to counseling can help you develop clarity of mind, as well as new and powerful ways of being and relating to the self and others. When you understand how other people’s behavior and communication impacts your life, it can help you feel less judgmental, less frustrated, and less hurt by them. Counseling can give you tools to learn more effective ways to communicate. Growth and freedom are energizing and available to anyone who wants to do the work.
CARE OF THE SELF
Going to counseling is often a first step to regaining a sense of control and feeling like you deserve to be happy and healthy. If you’re emotionally and physically depleted, you’re more likely to become anxious, irritated, frustrated, or fatigued. Learning to set boundaries with others and with oneself can lead to an improved and resilient sense of well-being.
DEVELOPING INSIGHT AND NEW WAYS OF THINKING
Being the target of another’s anger can make you feel guilty, ashamed and defensive. A counselor can offer suggestions for homework including behavioral changes and mental exercises. In counseling, you can learn that another’s words and actions aren’t necessarily a reflection on you. You can also learn how to reframe negative thoughts and change your self-talk to reflect your true self.
