I'm Dr. Diane Myers, and I have over 20 years of experience working with children, adolescents, families and individuals.
My work is based on a thorough understanding of human development, and the ways in which life events and relationships can impact a person’s growth and well-being. I want to help you find clarity and meaning, whatever your situation.
As a fourth-generation Valleyite, I am attuned to the needs of our diverse culture and population.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a short-term, goal-oriented, practical approach to problem-solving. CBT works by changing attitudes and negative thinking patterns through focusing on irrational beliefs and behaviors. The client and therapist work together to understand what the challenges are, and develop new strategies and principles for coping.
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT) concentrates on addressing the specific emotional and mental health needs of children, adolescents, and adult survivors of trauma.
Filial therapy is a therapeutic family intervention in which the therapist educates, teaches, and co-facilitates with parents. The therapist and parents are engaged as partners in the therapeutic process through child-centered play sessions with their children. Parents are empowered to be the primary change agents for their children.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) is a psychotherapy that can help resolve emotional difficulties caused by frightening life experiences. EMDR therapy can calm troubling thoughts and negative feelings related to distressing memories. This technique uses the brain and right/left eye-tracking to reprocess disturbing events and promote healing.
